Photographs that still feel like the day.
Elena Vaughn — wedding and editorial photography out of Portland, and the school where 2,400 photographers learned to read a room before they raised a camera.

A camera is just the last honest thing in the room.
I’m Elena Vaughn. For twelve years I’ve photographed weddings the way I’d want mine documented — unposed, unhurried, a little too honest. Somewhere around wedding two hundred I started teaching other photographers to do the same, and The Atelier grew out of that.

The course I wish someone had handed me at wedding twelve.
A ten-week program for working photographers ready to stop shooting like a guest and start shooting like the only person in the room who knows what happens next.

Reading the room
Light, timing and where to stand before you ever raise the camera — the module every cohort says rewires how they shoot within a week.
The edit
Building a gallery that tells one story, not eight hundred photos.
Monthly critique
A standing call with your cohort long after the course ends.
Live shoot days
Two real weddings, shadowed and reviewed frame by frame afterward.
Next cohort opens in six weeks · 14 seats
See the full curriculum“Elena spent the first twenty minutes of our wedding just watching. I didn’t understand why until I saw the gallery — she knew exactly which twenty minutes mattered before we did.”
Two ways to keep learning between cohorts.

The Darkroom
The standing community for every Atelier alum — weekly critique threads, an office-hours call, and a feed of what everyone actually shot last weekend.
